Week 1: Social Studies

DAY ONE: Today, you will be using what we discussed about rules and laws in class to do a group project. Remember what we talked about- Why are rules important? What happen if we didn't have rules? Get into your groups of 5 that I have assigned. Your job as a group is to make a power point of 10 RULES and reasons why you think they are important. These rules can be for our classroom, our school, or a family's home. Whatever you choose, the group must decide together and agree!
First:
  • Each one of you is responsible for writing 2 of your own rules. Write them out and then write at least 1 sentence explaining why that rule is important. You will have the first 40 minutes of today's block to finish this part of the project.
  • Before you finish, make sure that 2 people in the group don't think of the same rules!
  • Turn your paper in to the IN-CLASS bin.
Second:
  • You will have the last 10 minutes of today's block to start the power point (use your time wisely!)
  • Let the person who wrote the two rules put them on the power point. Take turns :)
POWER POINT INSTRUCTIONS:
  • It must be 10 slides long
  • Each slide should have 1 rule and 1 reason why this rule is important on it
  • It should be colorful
  • It should be easy to read- please don't write in yellow letters, I can't read that! :P

  • It should be creative

DAY TWO: Today, your will have the entire 50 minutes to finish your power point's about 10 rules you would like to make in the classroom, home, or school and why. PLEASE REMEMBER that everyone should help make the project! Be creative! :)

Once you reach the final page with your bill on it, print it out and turn it in to the IN-CLASS bin.

Second:
  • Click on this link to get to your word search! Print this out and complete it at your desk. When you are finished, turn it in to the IN-CLASS bin.
